Burlingame Retail Development

A 52,000 square foot Safeway with rooftop parking anchors this revitalized block located along the historic El Camino Real near Burlingame Avenue, one of two main retail streets in Burlingame.

Lowney Architecture renovated a mid-century bank building to provide five new retail spaces while adding a new two-level, mixed commercial building at the southwest corner with shops along Primrose Road. The new building has a public roof garden whose street-level entrance is shaded by a majestic oak, one of 18,000 public trees in this “city of trees”. This project is the result of 13 years of community discussion on how to best fit into the community and provide ease of use.
