To address the growing needs of affordable housing in Redwood City, Miramontes (formerly known as 1304 El Camino Real) soon will be one of the city’s latest 100% affordable housing projects.
Located on a tight .15 acre lot, this project is an extension of the greater South Main Mixed-Use Project, and will bring 39 units to market.
In keeping with the City’s Complete Streets concept, the design incorporates active frontages along public streets to improve connectivity between the project and adjacent neighborhoods. El Camino Real provides opportunities to create memorable and engaging retail, residential, and mixed-use destinations for local residents.
Our design intervention looks to the adjacent historic Main Street District and Stambaugh Heller District for opportunities for enhancing the pedestrian experience. Making an effort to turn El Camino Corridor into a “Grand Boulevard” that promotes walking, bicycling, transit, and economic growth will help to balance business opportunities and housing options that make it easier for people of all income levels to live and work in Redwood City.
