Located in Jack London Square, a redeveloped former industrial neighborhood, Plank is a 45,000 SF entertainment venue with a year-round, indoor-outdoor program that is uniquely Oakland.
To bring this space to life, Lowney Architecture transformed a former Barnes & Noble bookstore into a 579-seat restaurant with multiple lounge and bar areas, 18 lanes of state-of-the-art bowling, and an adjacent games arcade. Outside, the 15,000 SF space includes a satellite kitchen, a 282-seat beer garden surrounding bocce courts, a custom cornhole court, and fire pits.
As the premier Oakland destination for family gatherings, private parties, and corporate events, Plank has helped further accelerate the revitalization of Jack London Square. This project was also named one of the San Francisco Business Times’ ‘Real Estate Deals of the Year’ (Restaurant, 2014).
