Encompassing an entire city block in historic Old Oakland, Swan’s Market is a mixed-use complex which houses restaurants, non-profit organizations, the Museum of Children’s Art and the historic Housewives Market.
The building’s glazed brick and terra cotta exterior dates back to when the existing structure was constructed from 1917 – 1940. To infuse interior spaces with sunlight and to link the building’s diverse uses, portions of the original trusses are exposed.
Lowney Architecture provided master planning services to bring new life into this nearly 100-year old, National Register of Historic Places landmark.
