Previously used as a surface parking lot for El Cerrito BART Station, the 6-story Mayfair development on a city-owned block brings 223 new housing units to a long-neglected block near the El Cerrito del Norte BART Station.
The affordable and market-rate units will be in separate U-shaped buildings surrounding a pair of courtyards with a central open space between them that will be open to the public during daylight hours. 67 of the units will be affordable to low, ranging in affordability from 30% – 60% of area median income.
The program mix provides 17 studios, 30 one bedrooms, 12 two bedrooms, and 8 three bedrooms, as well as 10,500 sf of ground floor retail, parking, bicycle parking, property management, and tenant service offices as amenities available for tenants.
The flagship project is a part of the City of El Cerrito’s campaign to increase density and produce more housing along San Pablo as part of their Specific Plan adopted in 2014.
