The proposed Student Housing Complex and adjoining PACE Innovation Center will serve as the western gateway to the UHM campus. The project will involve preserving the well-regarded façade of the historic Atherton YMCA building, connecting the history of the site to the forward-looking program of the PACE Center.
The development boasts a three-story atrium space serving as a hub between the various programs. Large exhibition spaces exist off the main lobby and a series of conference rooms would host classes and seminars.
The second floor of the Innovation Center would be student work space and faculty offices offset by a large, multi-use outdoor deck. Adjacent to the building entry, students can access the 4-story and 5-story wings of the residential tower which will service 324 beds and provide access to 158 parking spaces below. At the top of the 5-story wing, a second, more private community space, with a commercial kitchen, opens out onto a deck featuring views of the ocean in the distance.
The project also features two locations for retail that serves the larger campus and surrounding residential community.
